Shots on Target – Top 5 Leagues Players
Players most likely to produce shots on target in the next match based on shooting volume, shot quality and the defensive tendencies of the opponent.
How the ranking is calculated
Players are ranked using a weighted score that combines individual shooting behaviour with how frequently the upcoming opponent allows shots on target. To ensure fair comparisons, only players above a minimum playing-time threshold are included and every metric is converted into a percentile score within the dataset.
- Player shooting profile (68%) rewards players who consistently generate shots on target. It combines shots on target, total shots, non-penalty expected goals, touches inside the opponent’s penalty area, the percentage of shots that are on target and average shot distance, where closer shots are scored higher.
- Opponent vulnerability profile (32%) rewards matchups against teams that concede shots on target and allow frequent shooting. It includes shots on target conceded, total shots conceded, non-penalty expected goals conceded, touches inside their own penalty area allowed, and additional indicators of chance creation allowed such as passes into the penalty area and key passes. It also includes expected goals conceded per match at the opponent’s home or away venue depending on where the match is played.
The final score combines sixty-eight percent of the player shooting profile with thirty-two percent of the opponent vulnerability profile. Players are ranked according to this score for the upcoming fixture and its specific opponent.
